We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline
or the pain of regret or disappointment. The only antidote to mental suffering is physical pain. Why do people persist in a dissatisfying relationship, unwilling
either to work toward solutions or end it and move on? It's because
they know changing will lead to the unknown, and most people believe
that the unknown will be much more painful than what they're already
experiencing.
There is no more lively sensation than that of pain; its
impressions are certain and dependable, they never deceive as may
those of the pleasure women perpetually feign and almost never experience. |
